Esa Horrible Fortaleza

That Hideous Strength

The great writer C.S. Lewis published the third volume of his Cosmic Trilogy in 1945 under the title “That hideous strength.” The novel presents a world dominated by the NICE organization, “the original product of the constructive union between the State and laboratory research, on which it is equivalent to the people of ideas who base their hopes on a better world”. This sinister organization sought, under the guise of its scientific leadership, to control all citizens. Realizing society fights NICE although, by then, “The hideous strength has all the land in its grip to squeeze it however it wants”.
It was also in 1945 that the UN was created, the global organization that was born with the purpose of avoiding wars (World War II ended) and to champion science and human rights. And although – like NICE – it had great initial social support, it is evident that in recent decades it has not only lost its purpose but also represents less and less the aspirations of the peoples.
Already in 2002 Michel Schooyans affirmed in his book “The hidden face of the UN” that “The UN and some of its agencies behave more and more openly as if they had been mandated to elaborate a radically different conception of human rights from the that was expressed in 1948. “ And in his book “Marion-ethics. The UN Experts impose their Law, “Marguerite Peeters accuses her of imposing” an ethic for puppets that shapes behaviors and establishes a new design for good and evil. “Something that could have been seen in practice in 2006 when the UN helped Guatemala in a virtual neocolony through CICIG.
Their grave sexual scandals also evidence their moral debacle. Peter John Dalglish, a former high-level official, was found guilty of raping children in Nepal. Peter Newell, senior director for children’s rights, was guilty of five charges related to rape of a child. But they are not isolated cases. Andrew MacLeod, a former high commissioner, stated in 2018 that “there are tens of thousands of humanitarian actors around the world with pedophile tendencies.” And the picture grows much more in Eric Frattini’s book, “UN. History of corruption” (2009).
For all this, the UN is now a dark organization. One that, as Lewis wrote, we could call That Hideous Strength.
