La Alcalde Lupe Ramos Amith da Informe de la Ciudad de Indio y entrega Reconocimientos a La Prensa Hispana Bilingual Newspaper por sus 30 Años de Servicio a la Comunidad
Indio Mayor Lupe Ramos Amith Delivers State of the City Address and Awards La Prensa Hispana Bilingual Newspaper for 30-year of service to the community
El 31 de octubre la alcaldesa de Indio Lupe Ramos Amith pronunció su discurso sobre el Estado de la Ciudad, destacando hasta dónde ha llegado la ciudad en materia de seguridad pública, infraestructura vial, empleo y comercio.
El evento se llevó a cabo en el casino Fantasy Springs y fue organizado por la Gran Cámara de Comercio. Durante el evento, la alcaldesa Ramos presentó un video sobre los posibles cambios que vienen a esta ciudad. Mariana, una de las asistentes comentó después del video: “wow, si todo eso sucede, Indio será irreconocible, lo digo como algo bueno.”
5 empresas fueron galardonadas en la ceremonia, con La Prensa Hispana recibiendo el Premio de la Alcaldía 2019. La Ciudad de Indio tiene cinco miembros electos del Ayuntamiento. Los cinco concejales son elegidos por distrito y sirven por términos de cuatro años; además cada año seleccionan al alcalde de forma rotatoria. El actual alcalde Interino Glenn Miller asumirá en diciembre su cargo como alcalde de la ciudad de Indio durante un año mientras ya que Ramos se acerca al final de su mandato rotacional. Tanto Lupe Ramos como Glenn Miller estarán para reelección en el 2020, y ambos han lanzado con éxito sus campañas.
On October 31st Indio Mayor Lupe Ramos Amith delivered her State of the City address, highlighting how far has the city come regarding public safety, road infrastructure, jobs and commerce.
The event was held at Fantasy Springs casino and hosted by the Greater Chamber of Commerce. During the event, Mayor Ramos presented a video about the potential changes coming to this city. Mariana, one of the attendees commented after the video: “wow, if all of that happens, Indio will be unrecognizable, I’m saying that as a good thing though.”
5 businesses were awarded at the ceremony, with La Prensa Hispana receiving the Mayor’s Award for 2019. The City of Indio has five elected members of the City Council. The five Councilmembers are elected by district and serve for a four-year terms. Each year they select the Mayor on a rotational basis. Current Mayor Pro-Tem Glenn Miller will be assuming his position in December as Mayor of the City of Indio for a year as Ramos nears the end of her rotational mandate. Both Lupe Ramos and Glenn Miller are up for reelection in 2020, and both have successfully launched their campaigns.
