GARCIA HELPS PROVIDE TURKEYS FOR NEEDY FAMILIES

Today, Assemblywoman Bonnie Garcia in partnership with the Golden State Water Company and the California Water Association will be donating turkeys to local charitable organizations for distribution to those less fortunate this Thanksgiving holiday.

Campesinos Unidos, Imperial Valley College Students for Political Awareness, and the African American Correctional Workers Association will be the recipients of this year’s “Operation Gobble” turkey give-away.

“Imperial County is still feeling the affects of the freeze from earlier this year, increasing the need for nutritious meals this holiday season,” said Garcia. “I am proud to partner with Golden State Water Company and The California Water Association to bring a little joy to needy families in the Imperial Valley.”

Golden State Water has been distributing turkeys to disadvantaged families throughout its customer service areas statewide since 1990. The program has grown over the years and the number of turkeys given away each year has increased. This year, over 5,000 turkeys will be distributed by Golden State Water Company, with several thousand more distributed by other regulated water utilities as part of the California Water Association program.
