COD Celebrated a Child Development and Education Job Fair, Graduation, and Alumni Celebration; and Wished Happy Retirement to ECE Dean Leslie Young

On Thursday May 23rd, College of the Desert’s Early Childhood Education building, hosted an event filled with surprises and opportunities. Representatives from several ECE agencies and school districts participated at a job fair, followed by recognitions for the 41 graduating students.
Over one hundred people, alumni and former faculty members joined the celebration to say goodbye to Leslie Young, who was Dean of ECE for over a decade and is now heading to a happy retirement. Students and Alumni had the opportunity to write small letters highlighting how Dean Young had impacted their lives. The ceremony was led by Dr. Wendy Sanders.
After the program a small reception followed at the McCarthy Family CDC, where the chef served some appetizers made from vegetables harvested from the children’s garden at the McCarthy center.

 

El jueves 23 de mayo, el edificio de Educación Temprana del Colegio del Desierto, presentó un evento lleno de sorpresas y oportunidades. Representantes de varias agencias de ECE y distritos escolares participaron en una feria de empleos, seguida por reconocimientos para los 41 estudiantes graduados.
Mas de cien personas, exalumnos y ex profesores se unieron a la celebración para decir adiós a Leslie Young, quien fue Decana de Educación Temprana (ECE) por más de una década y ahora se dirige hacia una feliz jubilación. Los estudiantes y ex estudiantes tuvieron la oportunidad de escribir pequeñas cartas resaltando como la Decana Young impacto sus vidas. La ceremonia fue dirigida por la Dra. Wendy Sanders.
Después del programa se realizó una pequeña recepción en el Centro de Desarrollo Infantil McCarthy, donde el chef sirvió unos bocadillos hechos de verduras cosechadas del jardín de los niños del centro McCarthy.
