Cathedral City Elementary Teacher of the Year

Tiffany Silva was chosen Cathedral City Elementary’s teacher of the year for 2005-2006. She is a first grade teacher. She has been at the school for 9 years. She has taught kindergarten, first grade, and a 1/2 grade combo class. She just completed a masters degree in Education, Instructional Technology. She loves her job and continues to do more than is necessary for her students. Her favorite unit to teach is one she teaches in December, entitled Christmas Around the World. During this unit, she teaches her students about Christmas traditions and customs in different countries. While doing this, she wears traditional costumes from the countries she is talking about. This unit helps her to achieve one of the state standards, that even though we may live in the same place, we are not all the same.
