Cardenas Market Opens In Coachella
The city of Coachella finally got a first class market with a real Latino flavor. If opening day is any indication, the market (located on Harrison street where the old Vons market was) is going to be a huge success just as all the other Cardenas Markets.
What started out with the purchase of a pregnant pig in Corona 25 years ago that led to a thriving (7000 hogs) hog farm has multiplied into over 12 market locations. The story of Jesus Cardenas Sr. is truly a rags to riches success story. Jesus continued working at a dairy while selling pigs and gradually moving up in scale until he had 40 acres near Barstow. Now with over 1,200 employees, Cardenas concentrates on quality products and his meats are especially sought after.
Offering everything from canned goods, a carniceria, panaderia, cocina, fresh fruits, fresh vegetables and a large assortment of antojitos, the market knows exactly what motivates Latino palates. It seems like all of Coachella was at Cardenas Market on opening day. You need to check it out to see what you have been missing.
