El pasado 30 de enero, el Servicio de Ciudadanía e Inmigración de Estados Unidos (USCIS, por sus siglas en inglés) informó que a partir de este año se ajustarían “ciertas tarifas de solicitud de beneficios de inmigración y naturalización por primera vez desde 2016”.
Como menciona esta notificación, entre las tarifas del USCIS que tendrán un ajuste se encuentran las de naturalización, es decir, las referentes a la obtención de la ciudadanía estadounidense.
De acuerdo con las nuevas tarifas del USCIS, las personas que buscan la ciudadanía de EE.UU. verán un aumento de hasta 19 % en ciertos casos.
Lo anterior podría afectar a un grupo muy amplio. Según estadísticas del Departamento de Seguridad Nacional de EE.UU. (DHS, por sus siglas en inglés), a inicios de 2023 había 9 millones de personas que cumplían los requisitos de edad y duración de residencia en Estados Unidos para optar por una ciudadanía.

¿Cuándo y cuánto suben los precios para solicitar la ciudadanía estadounidense?
El USCIS indica que las nuevas tarifas estarán vigentes a partir del lunes 1 de abril de 2024. Antes de esa fecha, todavía podrás hacer tu solicitud con la tarifa previa.
