Qué es CBP One, la Aplicación donde deben Registrarse los Migrantes para Solicitar su Entrada a los EE.UU.

A través de esta aplicación CBP One, que está disponible en la App Store y Google Play, los migrantes podrán programar sus citas en busca de una solicitud de asilo a EE.UU.

A principios de este año 2023, el gobierno del presidente Joe Biden reimpulsó la operación de la aplicación móvil que lleva por nombre ‘CBP One’, la cual permitirá a los migrantes centroamericanos, que están varados en la frontera sur del lado mexicano, programar sus citas para solicitar asilo a los Estados Unidos.
A través de esta aplicación, que está disponible para los dispositivos IOS y Android, las personas de nacionalidad venezolana, haitiana, guatemalteca, salvadoreña y mexicana, entre otros, podrán realizar un registro previo donde informarán a las autoridades estadounidenses los motivos por los cuales quieren cruzar la frontera entre México y Estados Unidos.
“La aplicación CBP One sirve como un portal único para una variedad de servicios de CBP que permite a los usuarios ser dirigidos rápida y convenientemente a las funciones que necesitan respondiendo una serie de preguntas guiadas”, señala la introducción de la aplicación en el apartado “acerca de esta app” al momento de intentar descargarla.
La aplicación que fue creada desde el 28 de octubre de 2020 y que es reimpulsada por el gobierno estadounidense, resurge a partir de este 12 de enero luego de que el pasado 5 de enero el Departamento de Seguridad de los Estados Unidos (DHS) anunció nuevas medidas para procesar a las personas que solicitan asilo en los puertos de entrada fronteriza entre EE.UU. y México y que buscan estar exentos del Título 42.
“El uso de CBP One agilizara la experiencia en el puerto de entrada, puede reducir los tiempos de espera, y permite un proceso seguro y ordenado para los puertos de entrada y todos los viajeros”, señala la Oficina de Aduanas y Protección Fronteriza (CBP, por sus siglas en inglés).

Pasos para realizar el registro en ‘CBP One’
La aplicación, que está disponible desde el pasado 12 de enero de 2023, otorgará las primeras citas de los solicitantes de asilo a partir del próximo 18 de enero, con nuevos días de publicación diaria entre las 9am (EST) hasta con 14 días de anticipación, señala el Departamento de Seguridad Nacional.
Los migrantes interesados en realizar su registro en CBP One tendrán que realizar los siguientes pasos.
1. Descargar la aplicación ‘CBP One´ en su dispositivo móvil en la App Store (IOS) o Google Play (Android).
2. Crear un usuario y contraseña en caso de no tenerlo.
3. Al ingresar te llevará a la sección “¿Quién eres?” donde deberás identificarte como viajero y después elegir la opción “Enviar información anticipada” y seleccionar el idioma de tu preferencia.
4. Deberás llenar la información de todos los viajeros o integrantes de la familia en la sección “Agregar individuo”, donde colocarás los nombres completos; fecha de nacimiento; país de nacimiento; información de contacto y foto de cada registrado.
5. Indicar el lugar o destino al que quieres ir dentro de Estados Unidos y algún contacto de la persona que viva en ese lugar en caso de emergencia.
6. Una vez llenado los datos, se mostrarán los números de confirmación de cada integrante de la familia así como la fecha de la cita. Esos mismos datos llegarán al correo electrónico previamente proporcionado por lo que es muy importante que ese correo sea real y accesible.
Una vez llegada la cita, que no garantiza su entrada a Estados Unidos, se verificarán los datos del registrante proporcionados en la app, además de que se le tomará nuevamente una foto en el puerto de entrada previamente seleccionado, y se evaluará si la o las personas son aptas o no para que se les otorgue asilo.
De acuerdo con CBP, los puertos de entrada que están disponibles para estas citas por medio de la app CBP One son: en Texas Brownsville, Eagle Pass, Hidalgo, Laredo y El Paso; Nogales en Arizona; así como Calexico West y San Ysidro en California.
“La función Entrada I-94 permite a los viajeros solicitar una I-94 provisional antes de llegar a un cruce fronterizo terrestre. Los viajeros que soliciten su I-94 con anticipación experimentarán tiempos de procesamiento más rápidos para acelerar la entrada”, señala CBP en su sitio web.

Steps to do the registration in ‘CBP One’

Migrants interested in registering in CBP One will have to complete the following steps.
1. Download the ‘CBP One’ app on your mobile device from the App Store (IOS) or Google Play (Android).
2. Create a username and password if you do not have it.
3. Upon entering, it will take you to the “Who are you?” where you must identify yourself as a traveler and then choose the option “Send advance information” and select the language of your choice.
4. You must fill in the information of all travelers or family members in the “Add individual” section, where you will place the full names; date of birth; country of birth; contact information and photo of each registrant.
5. Indicate the place or destination you want to go to within the United States and a contact person for the person who lives in that place in case of emergency.
6. Once the data is filled out, the confirmation numbers of each family member will be displayed, as well as the date of the appointment. These same data will arrive at the previously provided email, so it is very important that this email is real and accessible.
Once the appointment arrives, which does not guarantee your entry to the United States, the registrant’s data provided in the app will be verified, in addition to having a photo taken again at the previously selected port of entry, and it will be evaluated if the people are suitable or not to be granted asylum.
According to CBP, the ports of entry that are available for these appointments through the CBP One app are: in Texas Brownsville, Eagle Pass, Hidalgo, Laredo and El Paso; Nogales in Arizona; as well as Calexico West and San Ysidro in California.
“The I-94 Entry feature allows travelers to apply for a provisional I-94 before arriving at a land border crossing. Travelers who apply for their I-94 early will experience faster processing times to expedite entry,” CBP notes on its website.
