Generaciones

El año de nacimiento es la herramienta más importante para definir el desarrollo sociológico ya que, a pesar de que no es una ciencia exacta, podemos analizar a que grupo pertenece, tomando en cuenta los acontecimientos sociales que le tocó vivir.
Por ejemplo, aquellos nacidos entre 1920 y 1940, pertenecen al grupo de los “Longevos”, ya que vivieron varias guerras y vieron popularizarse la radio, el automóvil, el cine, etc.
Los siguientes son la generación de los “Baby Boomers”, nacidos entre 1940 y 1960, la generación W por su gran aporte a Internet y la WWW, esta generación creció con la cultura hippie, música beat y vio desarrollarse la televisión y las primeras computadoras.
La generación X, nacidos entre 1960 y 1980, crecieron con la revolución informática y la llegada del hombre a la luna, también vieron surgir la lucha por los derechos civiles, el movimiento feminista, la defensa del medioambiente y la contracultura.
La generación Y, nacidos entre 1980 y el 2000, o Millennials porque llegaron a su edad laboral al comenzó del siglo XXI, son una generación digital, hiperconectada y con altos valores sociales y éticos, así mismo son quienes “vivieron” los ataques terroristas del 11 de septiembre y crecieron a la sombra de las guerras en Irak y Afganistán, también son la generación que más a migrado, creando la mayor diversidad racial y étnica de la historia.
La generación Z, nació entre el 2000 y el 2015, y se los denomina iGenerations, porque nacieron con las redes sociales, es una generación diferente a las anteriores porque ha nacido bajo normas, pautas y conceptos que corresponden al mundo digital.
La generación nacida desde el 2015 son los Centennials, que crecen en un entorno tecnológico activo, incorporando Internet en las fases más tempranas de su aprendizaje y socialización, sobreexpuestos a la información y super conectados a la realidad, acostumbrados a tomar decisiones rápidas, con un lenguaje visual muy intuitivo. Por supuesto que conoceremos a esta generación a medida que ingresen a la madurez.
Debemos considerar que las generaciones enumeradas son una lente a través de la cual comprendemos los cambios sociales, en lugar de una etiqueta con la que simplificar demasiado las diferencias entre grupos.

The generation born since 2015 are the Centennials, who grow up in an active technological environment, incorporating the Internet in the earliest phases of their learning and socialization, overexposed to information and super connected to reality, used to making quick decisions, with a very intuitive visual language. Of course we will meet this generation as they enter maturity.
We should see the generations listed as a lens through which we understand social change, rather than a label with which to oversimplify differences between groups.
