“Scientific American” Miente

La famosa revista Scientific American incluye recientemente un breve pero desconcertante artículo titulado “Las leyes antitrans son anti sanitarias” (01.08.2021) con afirmaciones controversiales y hasta falsas, que presenta como la “opinión y análisis del consejo de redacción”. Algo inaudito.
Así empieza: “Los proyectos de ley que restringen el acceso a la atención sanitaria de género no son científicos”. Falso. En 2020, el Tribunal Superior de Justicia de Inglaterra dictaminó que los bloqueadores de pubertad son peligrosos, basado en estudios de 2019 de la propia clínica Tavistock que los realiza. Estos concluyeron que las tendencias suicidas no disminuyeron después de la supresión de la pubertad y fueron confirmados públicamente por el Dr. David Bell, que trabajó allí 24 años. En 2004, una revisión de más de 100 estudios de transexuales post operados ya lo decía: “no hay evidencia científica sólida de que la cirugía de reasignación de género sea clínicamente efectiva”.
El artículo continúa: “El peligro real proviene de negar a las personas trans la atención médica que necesitan […] un estudio de 2020 lo confirma”. Muy discutible. Hay estudios que afirman lo contrario, mientras los resultados se distorsionan en otros que no examinan la salud mental ANTES de la transición. La psicoterapeuta Lisa Marchiano cree que las estadísticas de suicidio son “un chantaje emocional para obligar a los padres a consentir algo que no quieren”.
También se afirma que: “Estos bloqueadores […] permiten ganar tiempo para que los jóvenes exploren su identidad de género”. Falso. La propia clínica Tavistock (2021) reveló que la gran mayoría de los jóvenes que toman bloqueadores siempre pasan a hormonas de sexo cruzado, que hay “resultados similares en un estudio estadounidense” y que, en Holanda, llega al 95%.
Científicos como Charles Ihlenfeld o Paul McHugh lo han corroborado. El primero afirma que “el 80% que quiere cambiar de sexo no debería hacerlo”, y el segundo que “la cirugía no resuelve los problemas psicológicos de los pacientes”. También se sabe que casi el 70 por ciento de niños con disforia de género eventualmente la supera sin terapia.
¿Por qué Scientific American busca, entonces, de forma “anticientífica y cruel”, que las personas vivan en la negación de su identidad? Todo parece indicar que es por un interés más político que científico, ya que se afirma al final que “el Congreso debe aprobar la Ley de Igualdad”. Algo que tiene que ver muy poco con ciencia y mucho con ideología.

 

 

The famous magazine Scientific American recently included a short but disconcerting article entitled “Anti-trans laws are unsanitary” (08/01/2021) with controversial and even false statements, which it presents as the “opinion and analysis of the editorial board.” Something unheard of.
This is how it begins: “The bills that restrict access to gender-based health care, are unscientific.” False. In 2020, the Supreme Court of Justice of England ruled that puberty blockers are dangerous, based on 2019 studies from the Tavistock clinic that performs them. These concluded that suicidal tendencies did not decrease after puberty suppression and were publicly confirmed by Dr. David Bell, who worked there for 24 years. In 2004, a review of more than 100 studies of postoperative transsexuals already said: “there is no solid scientific evidence that gender reassignment surgery is clinically effective.”
The article continues: “The real danger comes from denying trans people the medical care they need […] a 2020 study confirms this.” Very debatable. There are studies that affirm the opposite, while the results are distorted in others that do not examine mental health BEFORE the transition. Psychotherapist Lisa Marchiano believes that suicide statistics are “an emotional blackmail to force parents to consent to something they do not want.”
It is also stated that: “These blockers […] buy time for young people to explore their gender identity.” False. The Tavistock clinic itself (2021) appears that the majority of young people who take blockers always switch to cross-sex hormones, that there are “similar results in an American study” and that, in the Netherlands, it reaches 95%.
Scientists such as Charles Ihlenfeld or Paul McHugh have corroborated this. The first states that “80% who want to change their sex should not do so”, and the second that “surgery does not solve the psychological problems of patients.” It is also known that nearly 70 percent of children with gender dysphoria eventually outgrow it without therapy.
Why, then, does Scientific American seek, in an “unscientific and cruel” way, that people live in denial of their identity? Everything seems to indicate that it is for a more political than scientific interest, since it is stated at the end that “Congress must approve the Equality Law.” Something that has very little to do with science and a lot to do with ideology.
