Best Moms Honored by Time Warner Cable

Time Warner Cable announced three local students and their mothers that earned top prizes in the 2012 Time Warner Cable Best Moms contest. The annual event provides local children the opportunity to celebrate the qualities that make their mom or caregiver special and earn them well-deserved recognition for Mother’s Day.
In its 9th year, more than 150 people attended the Time Warner Cable Best Moms ceremony at the Miramonte Resort. The following students and their mothers claimed the top prizes:
Elementary Division: Dax Withrow, Grade 4, Abraham Lincoln Elementary (Mother Marie Withrow, of Palm Desert)
Middle School Division: Michelle Mehta, Grade 8, Palm Desert Charter Middle (Mother Joanne Ohanesian of Palm Desert)
High School Division: Kitamba Satcher, Grade 11, La Quinta High, (Mother Sharesa Jackson, of La Quinta)
The contest asks children to nominate their mom by either writing an essay or submitting a video.  The three winners received a new Sony Tablet S® as their grand prize. Each of the winners, one from each school level was chosen through a panel of judges including politicians, journalists and teachers. Additionally, the winning students’ teachers each received a $250 gift card for classroom supplies courtesy of Time Warner Cable.
