Aumentos COLA: a Partir de cuándo Vendrán los Pagos con Aumento

El Ajustes por Costo de Vida (COLA) del próximo año entrará en vigencia con el nuevo aumento a partir del 29 de diciembre 2023 para los beneficiarios de la Seguridad de Ingreso Suplementario y del 3 de enero 2024 para los jubilados

Este jueves 12 de octubre, la Administración de Seguridad Social (SSA) publicó en cuánto quedará el Ajuste por Costo de Vida (COLA) para el próximo año, el cual se espera genere un aumento en todos los beneficios mensuales tanto de los pagos a los jubilados como de los beneficiarios de la Seguridad de Ingreso Suplementario (SSI).
De acuerdo con la entidad el nuevo ajuste del COLA será del 3.2%, al respecto Kilolo Kijakazi, comisionado interino del Seguro Social señaló que “los beneficios del Seguro Social y SSI aumentarán en 2024, y esto ayudará a millones de personas a mantenerse al día con los gastos”, dijo.
Aunque el ajuste para el 2024 es menos de la mitad del año pasado cuando los beneficiarios del Seguro Social percibieron un aumento de sus beneficios en un 8.7% siendo este uno de los mayores ajuste del COLA en décadas, se espera que este cálculo del Costo de Vida ayude a las jubilados a contrarrestar los precios en medio de una alta tasa inflacionaria.

¿A cuánto aumentarán los pagos?
Actualmente, los trabajadores jubilados, discapacitados, sobrevivientes y cónyuges de beneficiarios del Seguro Social y SSI reciben mensualmente sus pagos dependiendo de su edad de jubilación o su estatus al momento de solicitar el beneficio, los cuales se promedian en:
-Trabajadores jubilados: $1.838.58 dólares.
-Trabajadores discapacitados: $1.349. 44 dólares.
-Sobrevivientes: $1,454.08 dólares.
-Cónyuges: $891.32 dólares.
Con el nuevo ajuste se espera que los pagos de unos 66 millones de jubilados y 7.5 millones de personas asociadas al SSI aumente en promedio unos $50 dólares para el próximo año quedando de la siguiente manera:
-Trabajadores jubilados: $1.893.74 dólares, es decir $55.16 dólares más.
-Trabajadores discapacitados: $1.389,92 dólares, esto son $40.48 dólares más.
-Sobrevivientes: $1,497.70 dólares uno $43.62 dólares más.
-Cónyuges: $918.06 dólares, lo que representa $26.74 dólares más.
Estas cifras son tan solo un promedio de lo que se espera sea el aumento con el ajuste.

¿Cuándo comenzarán a enviarse los pagos con el aumento?
El nuevo ajuste del COLA entrará en vigor el próximo año y los pagos a los jubilados y beneficiarios del SSI comenzarán a enviarse con el aumento en las siguientes fechas:
-3 de enero 2024: Pagos a beneficiarios que comenzaron a recibir sus beneficios antes de mayo de 1997.
-10 enero 2024: Pagos de los Jubilados con fecha de nacimiento entre el día 1 y el 10.
-17 enero 2024: Pagos de los jubilados con fecha de nacimiento entre el 11 y el 20.
-24 enero 2024: Pagos de los jubilados con fecha de nacimiento entre el 21 y el 31.
En cuanto al pago de los beneficiarios de la Seguridad de Ingreso Suplementario (SSI) se realizará el 29 diciembre de 2023 ya que el 1 de enero del 2024 es feriado.

¿Qué es el COLA y cómo se calcula?
El Ajustes por costo de vida (COLA) se genera cada año con el fin de que el poder adquisitivo de los beneficios del Seguro Social y de la Seguridad de Ingreso Suplementario (SSI) no se vea mermado ante la alta inflación.
Para calcularlo, se debe tener en cuenta los datos del Índice de Precios al Consumidor para asalariados y trabajadores administrativos urbanos (IPC-W) del tercer trimestre del año y se compara con el tercer trimestre del año anterior y la diferencia porcentual de aumento es la que establece el COLA del siguiente año.

When will payments with the increase begin to be sent?
The new COLA adjustment will take effect next year and payments to retirees and SSI beneficiaries will begin to be sent with the increase on the following dates:
-January 3, 2024: Payments to beneficiaries who began receiving their benefits before May 1997.
-January 10, 2024: Payments for Retirees with a date of birth between the 1st and the 10th.
-January 17, 2024: Payments for retirees with a date of birth between the 11th and the 20th.
-January 24, 2024: Payments for retirees with a date of birth between the 21st and 31st.
Regarding the payment of the beneficiaries of the Supplemental Security Income (SSI), it will be made on December 29, 2023 since January 1, 2024 is a holiday.

What is COLA and how is it calculated?
Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA) are generated each year so that the purchasing power of Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits is not diminished by high inflation.
