Secretary of state announces good news for Jeandron
80th Assembly District Boasts Large Voter
Registration Gains
for Republicans
On Friday, Secretary of State Debra Bowen announced the results of the 60-Day Close, tallying the voter registration numbers statewide. While Republicans have been losing ground around the state since the 2004 Presidential election, they have been making progress in the 80th Assembly District. The numbers are at their highest point in more than two years, giving Gary Jeandron one of the best chances to retain a targeted Assembly seat in November.
Thanks to a strong voter registration drive by the California Republican Party, what was a more than 10-point voter registration gap has been reduced to less than 7 percentage points. As of the 60-Day Close on September 5th, the 80th Assembly District’s voter registration is 44.76% Democrat, 37.80% Republican, and 14.33% Decline to State.
The 80th Assembly District Republican percentage is more than 5 points higher than the statewide average of 32.3%. The overall gap of 6.96 percentage points between Republican and Democrats makes the 80th Assembly District one of the best chances for a Republican Victory in November, compared to other districts statewide.
