Tribute To Al Vasquez
What more can be said about “the Man” that has not already been said? My deepest regret is that I did not take more time to know “the Man” before he departed this world.
While I know a lot about Al, my time spent with him was very limited but cherished nonetheless. His generous and wonderfully articulate spirit was known throughout the Coachella Valley – from his work in the Community through LULAC and the International Hispanic Film Festival to his La Prensa Hispana newspaper circulated throughout the desert community. From that publication, I learned much about “the Man”. He cared for his community, his family and was a proud servant to the United States of America.
From his warnings about terrorism to his pride in his Country, Al Vasquez gave so very much to our community and our country. From this time forward, I will not wait to get to know someone whom I admire; I will reach out, touch, thank and hug another human being as I wish I had done with “the Man”, Al Vasquez. Rest in Peace and know you are missed by not only your wonderful wife Ana and family, but thousands of us who never got the chance to reach out, touch and hug you. One of the Best!

¿Qué más se puede decir sobre esta personalidad que aún no se haya dicho? Mi más profundo pesar es que no me tomé más tiempo para conocerlo más antes de que partiera de este mundo.
Aunque sé mucho sobre Al, el tiempo que pasé con él fue muy limitado, pero apreciado de todos modos. Su espíritu generoso y maravillosamente articulado se conocía en todo el Valle de Coachella, desde su trabajo en la comunidad a través de LULAC, el Festival Internacional de Cine Hispano,la cena de gala de los Premios Hispanos hasta su periódico La Prensa Hispana que circulaba por toda la comunidad del desierto. De esa publicación, aprendí mucho sobre su personalidad. Se preocupaba por su comunidad, su familia y era un orgulloso servidor de los Estados Unidos de América.
Desde sus advertencias sobre el terrorismo hasta su orgullo en su país, Al Vasquez dio tanto a nuestra comunidad y nuestro país. De ahora en adelante, valoro más a las personas intelectuales como Al Vasquez. Descansa en paz y sé que te extrañan no solo tu maravillosa esposa Ana y su familia, sino también todos nosotros que no tuvimos más oportunidades de compartir con un excelente Republicano!
