Thousands of Families participate in the Statewide SeXXX ed Sit Out in California

Miles de Familias Participan en un Plantón Estatal de Educación SeXXXual en California

On May 17th, thousands of students throughout California were absent from school due to a Statewide Sit Out organized by Informed Parents of California (IPOC). The Sit Out came after the Department of Education adoption of the Health Framework, and their lack of support for parents.
California parents, with the support of teachers, doctors, community and faith leaders, have been raising their voices for over a year, demanding that the State restores the parental rights taken away by laws such as SB 48 and AB 329. On their last rally in Sacramento on May 8th, hundreds of parents opposed the adoption of the Framework, but the State Board of Education (SBE) voted against parents’ concerns. During an opening statement, the SBE stated that the US is behind countries like England, in regards to teaching Comprehensive Sexuality in schools.
At least 46 out of the 58 counties in California, participated in the Sit Out, and most of them rallied at their County’s Office of Education, having from dozens to hundreds of people showing up at each location. Some Offices of Education allowed the parents to rally, but some like Orange County and Riverside, sent either police or security cars to prevent the crowd from getting into the parking lot. Fortunately, the groups were there to protest peacefully, as they’ve done in the past, and nothing major happened.
Since their rally on May 8th, this issue has gained national attention, which will make it harder to contain any longer. Hispanic, Chinese, Arabic, Iranian, Romanian, Slovakian, and many other minorities keep shouting ‘discrimination’ at the DOE, since they never provided the Health Framework in any language other than English. Indeed, our Hispanic people in the Coachella Valley, and throughout California, are being discriminated against, because the media is not informing them in their native language about issues that directly affect our cultural values, morals, and principals. If every Hispanic knew what the legislature and the Department of Education have introduced into our schools, today we would be reporting millions of children sitting out, and not thousands.
