SENATOR JIM BATTIN HOLDS FINAL 14th ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP CEREMONIES

Senator Jim Battin held his final year scholarship distribution on May 10th. Senator Jim Battin created the scholarship award program during his first term as an Assemblyman fourteen years ago and he will term out of office the end of this year.

During the 14 years, Senator Battin has awarded over $113,000 to high school students in his district for outstanding academic achievement.

The award recipients for 2008 were: Daniel Villareal, Beaumont Hight School, Michael Picasso, Cathedral City High School, Kritika Thukral, La Quinta High School, Gebran Zod, Palm Desert High School.

Senator Battin is the only State legislator to create such an educational scholarship program for his district. The scholarship program was made possible through the generosity of: The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, Time Warner Cable, The CA Correctional Peace Officers Association, Desert Nephrology and DaVita Dialysis, Palm Springs Motors and Lt. General Herb Temple, USA (ret).
