Plaza named after Jackie Lee Houston

Jackie Lee Houston, one of the Coachella Valley’s best known philanthropists was honored in Palm Springs this week by naming a plaza in her name. The plaza will be located on the corner of Calle Alvarado and Amado Road across from the Palm Springs Convention Center. The Plaza will be located on the tribal land designated as section 14.

Richard Milanovich, Agua Caliente Tribal Chairman was one of the presenters along with Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet.

Mayor Pougnet stated he had googled Jackie Houston and the list of charitable contributions was so long he did not have the time to list them all. Chairman Milanovich added, “ It is amazing what she does for everybody”. The plaza will include a walking path, natural desert landscaping with a garden and a fountain in the shape of a sculpture.

Many dignitaries were in attendance including 98 year old former Palm Springs Mayor Frank Bogart. (Photo: Chairman Richard Milanovich, Mrs. Milanovich, Jackie Lee Houston, Mr. Houston and Mayor Steve Pougnet).
