Padres de Familia solicitan un foro abierto con el Asambleísta Eduardo García

La semana pasada, familias alrededor del Valle recibimos una invitación a la Apertura del Asambleísta Eduardo García el 11 de enero en su oficina de Coachella. En la celebración, niños de la primaria Cesar Chávez Elementary cantaron y bailaron música tradicional Mexicana. Después de la presentación, el Asambleísta García compartió unas palabras de aliento sobre e nuevo año y el presupuesto generoso que acomodó el Gobernador Newsom para beneficiar la educación. Luego procedió a presentar a otras personas como el Supervisor del Condado Manuel V Pérez y dijo que estaría disponible por si alguno de los asistentes tenía preguntas o comentarios.
Lo abordé casi inmediatamente, junto con otras mamas. Después de presentarme, le pregunté: ¿porque votó a favor de la AB 329?” a lo cual respondió:                           A2
“la juventud necesita saber sobre Infecciones Sexuales y Prevención de VIH. También necesitan saber cómo protegerse porque hay muchos embarazos adolescentes,” luego pregunté: “¿siquiera leyó la ley? ¿Sabía que nos iba a despojar de nuestros derechos de padres? El estado no debería decidir por nosotros; se supone que usted nos representa y ni nos preguntó.” A ese punto, Kimberly Barraza, una de sus empleadas, intervino tratando de hacerme a un lado para hablar en privado, pero él le pidió que lo dejara terminar su respuesta, “por la gran necesidad que tiene nuestra juventud de estar correctamente informada sobre cómo protegerse a ellos mismos,” un hombre lo hizo a un lado y Kimberly me dirigió a su oficina para hacer una cita. Le dije que solicité una cita desde el año pasado, pero que ahora estoy solicitando un foro abierto con por lo menos 300 padres, para que pueda escuchar nuestras preocupaciones y responder nuestras preguntas. Ella dijo: “no creo que le pueda conseguir un foro, pero por lo menos una cita personal. Le dije: Esta bien, tomaré la cita pero por favor hazle saber que queremos un foro abierto donde el pueda escuchar a los padres que supuestamente representa.” Asambleísta Eduardo García, sepa que habemos más de 300 padres preocupados en el Valle de Coachella que estamos solicitando un Foro Abierto con usted. No se olvide que hayamos o no votado por usted, usted es nuestro representante y la razón que usted tomo un juramento fue para servirnos a nosotros, El Pueblo.

 

Last week, families across the Valley received an invitation to Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia’s Open House, which took place on January 11th at his Coachella Headquarters. At the celebration children from Cesar Chavez Elementary sang and danced to traditional Mexican music. After the performances, Assemblymember Garcia shared some words of encouragement in regards to this new year and the generous budget Governor Newsom allocated and how it will benefit education. He then proceeded to introduce some other people in office such as County Supervisor Manuel V Perez and said he would be available to the attendees in case there were any questions or comments.
I approached him almost immediately, along with other moms. After introducing myself, I asked him: “Why did you vote YES on AB 329?” to which he answered:                A2
A2“the youth needs to know about STI and HIV prevention. Also, they need to know how to protect themselves because there’s a lot of teen pregnancy,” then I asked: “but did you even read the bill? Did you know it was going to strip us from our parental rights? The State shouldn’t decide for us; you’re supposed to represent us and you didn’t ask us.” At that point, Kimberly Barraza, one of his employees, intervened trying to pull me aside to talk in private, but he asked her to let him finish his answer, “because of the great need our youth has to be accurately informed on how to protect themselves,” a man pulled him aside while Kimberly directed me to her office to schedule an appointment. I told her I had requested an appointment since last year, but now I am requesting an open forum with him and at least 300 parents, so he can listen to our concerns and answer questions. She said: “I don’t think I can get you a forum but at least a one-on-one appointment.” I said: “that’s ok, I’ll take an appointment but please let him know we want an open forum where he can listen to the parents he supposedly represents.” Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia, know that there are more than 300 concerned parents in the Coachella Valley who are requesting an Open Forum with you. Don’t forget that whether we voted for you or not, you are our representative and the reason you took an oath is to serve us, The People.
