California Parents Rally at the Capitol in Sacramento to Protest

Parents from around the State gathered at the Capitol in Sacramento to protest the new SeXXX Education modified by the passing of AB329-California Healthy Youth Act Law

Parents from throughout the State of California rallied together in Sacramento on January 25th, to protest the passing of the Law AB329-Caliornia Healthy Youth Act and the extreme changes it provoked in the Comprehensive Sexual Education and HIV Prevention Curriculum. The parents were also set to march to the Instructional Quality Commission for Public Comments in regards to the 2019 Health Education Framework, which is set for adoption in May 2019, but due to the passing of CHYA, it portrays extremely sensitive content to be taught to children from TK to 12th grade. Unfortunately, 10 minutes before the rally started, the Department of Education sent out two representatives to notify the parents that the agenda items had been moved and they had less than 20 minutes to get there.
Since 12 parents had signed up for public comments and the rally was about to begin, Michelle New was the only mom able to get to the IQC for comments.
The rally was organized by Informed Parents of California, a Statewide group founded by Stephanie Yates, and supported by a group of committed parents from around the State, as well as by other organizations that defend family values and religious freedom. Jonathan Keller from California Family Council gave the welcome and introduced each of the speakers. Senator Mike Morrell (R) sent a representative who read a heartfelt letter of support on his behalf. Courtney from Capitol Resource Institute spoke in favor of protecting our children and youth. America Figueroa from Concerned California Parents Retaking Parental Rights issued a bilingual statement, spoke to the Hispanics in California and called them to action, to reach out to their legislators and demand that they do something; she challenged the people to get out of their comfort zone and see where the real discrimination is taking place and to realize that while they are worried about a wall, California parents are losing parental rights every day and neither legislators nor the Department of Education are providing anything in their language, just to keep them in the dark. Ashley Newman,  a 10-year California public school sex educator pointed out the medical inaccuracies presented in the curriculums and the risk it is putting our youth at. Kevin Snyder from Pacific Justice Institute reiterated that his organization is there for the families that are being affected due to this law and the materials. Michelle New spoke about the proposed Health Education Framework. Ken Williams and Elizabeth Woning from Changed.com expressed their worry in regards to how teaching what the new Framework proposes, will affect young children rather than help them. Stephanie Yates and Aileen Blachowski closed by reading a letter from a mom in the LGBT community who is in disagreement with the law, the curriculum and the upcoming Framework; she expressed her concern that her daughters will have access to such harmful material. They added hopeful remarks and encouraged the attendees to return in March for the next rally.
