Ophelia Project Annual Luncheon

THE OPHELIA PROJECT Annual Luncheon “Taking Flight”, will be held Thursday, April 30, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Agua Caliente Resort, $70.00 per person, seating is still available. Highlights will include presentations, announcement of Ophelia’s Alumni Association, Awards and Scholarship.
·The Ophelia Project is a group mentoring program for girls taking place in the schools during school hours. Transforming lives is the driving force behind the success of the Ophelia Project mentoring program; where annually some 550 girls are served in 11 schools across all three desert school districts. Mentored by over 150 highly trained and certified volunteers and local professional presenters, Ophelia Girls are learning the importance of education, nutrition, fitness and community involvement. Since its inception in 1998 the Ophelia Project of the Coachella Valley has successfully impacted the futures of 2850 girls!
The Annual Ophelia Luncheon is the highlight of each year. This elegant luncheon celebrates the academic successes of the year and presents awards and scholarships to graduating seniors.
At the end of the luncheon, there is an opportunity for any girl to take the microphone and tell what the program has meant to her….the Testimonials. This is the moment that shows the amazing impact Ophelia has in dramatically changing young lives. The girls take this opportunity to thank their Mentors for providing the program, to thank the schools for allowing the program, and to thank the sponsors for supporting the program. Of the many social events in the valley each season, the Ophelia Luncheon is unusual, unique and perhaps the most heartwarming highlight of the entire year. Ophelia stories are impassioned and everyone who attends is moved by the experience.
