Alguien me preguntó una vez: “Escuché que se postula para el congreso en mi distrito; ¿contra quién se está postulando? A menudo respondo,” si no sabe quién lo ha representado, entonces debería votar por mí.”
He notado un patrón a lo largo de los años con respecto a los políticos; parece que solo aparecen en época de elecciones. El guion de las victorias políticas aparece en cada ciclo electoral. Cada vez que alguien quiere postularse para un cargo, elige un partido, toma el libro de jugadas y obtiene los mismos resultados todos los años. Muchos políticos dicen que están “a favor de Dios,” pero nunca van a la iglesia ni leen la Biblia. Escuchamos, “estoy a favor de la reforma migratoria,” pero nunca se reúnen con las familias que han sido abusadas o ignoradas por el sistema, ni apoyan la seguridad fronteriza. Todos los años, seguimos votando por las mismas personas cortadas con la misma tijera.
Nos enamoramos de la promesa de: “Estoy trabajando para mejorar su vida. Vote por mi reelección y esta vez sí cumpliré esa promesa.”
Cada año se hace más difícil vivir en California. El costo de vida está subiendo. La calidad de la educación está bajando. Las nuevas leyes protegen a los delincuentes y ponen en peligro a los ciudadanos respetuosos de la ley. Hemos permitido que los campamentos públicos sean legales. Ahora la gente no puede hacer crecer sus negocios debido al problema de los indigentes; la nueva legislación está tratando de legalizar la prostitución, que solo protege la trata de personas y no a sus víctimas.
Es hora de que la comunidad minoritaria obtenga algo a cambio de su voto. El espectáculo de magia del partido democrático debe terminar ahora. Debemos mirar nuestras propias vidas y preguntarnos si podemos permitirnos seguir haciendo lo mismo. Harry S. Truman dijo una vez: “Es asombroso lo que puedes lograr si no te importa quién recibe el crédito.”
Históricamente, los negros y los hispanos le hemos dado crédito al partido político equivocado que no nos ha ayudado. Somos más que un voto. Nuestra nación es una república; está escrito en nuestra promesa. Una persona no se postula para un puesto público; todos lo hacemos. Los políticos trabajan para la gente. Necesitamos aprender sobre el partido que se rige por el pueblo y para el pueblo.

Someone once asked me, “I hear you’re running for congress in my district; who are you running against? I often respond, “if you don’t know who has represented you, then you should vote for me.”
I’ve noticed a pattern over the years regarding politicians; they seem to only show up around election time. The script for political victories shows up every election cycle. Anytime someone wants to run for office, they choose a party, grab the playbook, and get the same results every year. Many politicians say they are pro-God, but never go to church or read their Bible. You hear, I’m pro-immigration reform, but never meet with families that have been abused or overlooked by the system, neither do they support border security. Every year, we keep voting for the same cookie-cutter person.
We fall for the promise of, “I’m working on making your life better. Vote for my re-election, and I’ll get on that promise this time around.”
Every year it’s getting harder to live in California. The cost of living is going up. The quality of education is going down. New laws are protecting criminals while placing law-abiding citizens in harm’s way. We have allowed public camping to be legal. Now people can’t grow their businesses because of the homeless problem—new legislation is trying to legalize prostitution, which only protects human trafficking and not its victims.
It’s time the minority community gets something in return for their vote. The magic show of the democratic party must end now. We must look at our own lives and ask, can we afford to keep doing the same thing. Harry S Truman once said, “ It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.”
Historically, Blacks and Hispanics have given credit to the wrong political party that hasn’t help. We are more than just a vote. Our nation is a republic; it is written in our pledge. One person doesn’t run for a seat in office; we all run. Politicians work for the people. We need to learn about the party that is governed by the people and for the people.
