La Esencialidad de la Iglesia

En estos últimos meses, hemos agregado términos nuevos a nuestros diccionarios. «Distanciamiento social,» «guardarse-en-casa,» «cuarentena» (aunque ya hayamos excedidos los 40 días), y «la nueva normalidad,» entre otros.
Cada vez más común ver publicidad de mascarillas que promueven más una “moda” que la propia prevención; es decir, ya nuestra mente ha sido acondicionada, que ya no importa si esta nos protegerá o no, sino lo original o moderna que esta es.
La semana pasada el Presidente Donald Trump, declaró la esencialidad de las iglesias e instó a los gobernadores a autorizar que las iglesias se abrieran inmediatamente.
Comentarios como “Pero que irresponsabilidad del presidente, ¿que quiere que nos muramos todos?” “Que negligentes esos pastores que quieren abrir y exponer a sus congregaciones, ¿que no saben que nosotros somos la iglesia y el templo es solo un edificio?” por dejar algunos, son los que llovían en redes sociales.”
¿Sabían ustedes que el 23 de abril la Casa Blanca publicó una tabla con la expectativa de vida del virus COVID-19? Esta fue titulada:
“Temperaturas elevadas, humedad, y la luz del sol son perjudiciales para el SARS-CoV-2 en las gotas de saliva sobre superficies y en el aire”
Según esta tabla, la media vida del virus en superficies con una temperatura de 70 a 75 grados Farenheit, con 80% de humedad y sol, es de 2 minutos.
En aerosol (en el ambiente), con temperaturas de 70 a 75 F, 20% de humedad y sin sol, es de 60 minutos.
En superficies con 95F y 80% de humedad sin sol, la media vida del virus es de 1 hora.
Junto a esa tabla se presentó otra titulada: “Mejores Prácticas para Cada Estadounidense,” y esta tenía solo tres puntos:
CALOR Y LA HUMEDAD REPRIMEN AL COVID-19: En el interior y el exterior
MUDE SUS ACTIVIDADES HACIA AFUERA: La luz del sol impide la transmisión del virus.
DESINFECTANTES COMUNMENTE DISPOIBLES (Cloro y Alcohol Isopropyl) funcionan para matar el virus.
Si estas pautas se dieron hace más de un mes, ¿porqué seguimos discutiendo entre nosotros en lugar de razonar en que debe existir una razón más fuerte para mantenernos en casa y no permitir que la iglesia se congregue?
La iglesia (como institución), siempre ha sido esencial. ¿Porqué es importante que nos congreguemos? Porque es en la unidad y la oración corporal que nos fortaleceos mutuamente. Es en nuestro núcleo de apoyo moral y espiritual a donde acudimos cuando la vida se nos pone difícil. No es ninguna sorpresa el escuchar que los números de suicidios se han incrementado, al contrario, era de esperarse. ¿A dónde acuden la viuda, el pobre, el triste, y el deprimido buscando fortaleza si no a su congregación? y cuando esta no está disponible es cuando vemos justamente que las personas se quitan la vida, retoman viejos vicios, o conductas perjudiciales.
Basta con leer la Constitución y la Declaración de Independencia para entender la esencialidad de la iglesia. La Constitución existe para proteger nuestros derechos “dados por Dios,” y entre ellos va nuestra libertad religiosa. La Constitución no estipuló que el gobierno impusiera leyes para subyugar a la iglesia, sino para proteger precisamente a la iglesia y al pueblo, de caer en un gobierno tirano.

La Declaración de Independencia, escrita por Thomas Jefferson en 1776 dice:
“Consideramos que estas verdades son evidentes, que todos los hombres son creados iguales, que son dotados por su Creador de ciertos Derechos inalienables, que entre ellos están la Vida, la Libertad y la búsqueda de la Felicidad. — Que para garantizar estos derechos, los gobiernos se instituyen entre los hombres, derivando sus poderes justos del consentimiento de los gobernados, — Que cada vez que cualquier forma de gobierno se vuelve destructiva de estos fines, es el derecho del pueblo a alterarlo o abolirlo, e instituir un nuevo Gobierno, sentando su base sobre tales principios y organizando sus poderes en tal forma, en cuanto a ellos parecerá más probable que afecte a su seguridad y felicidad.”

La Constitución de los Estados Unidos en su Primera Enmienda dice:
“El Congreso no hará ley alguna por la que adopte una religión como oficial del Estado o se prohíba practicarla libremente, o que coarte la libertad de palabra o de imprenta, o el derecho del pueblo para reunirse pacíficamente y para pedir al gobierno la reparación de agravios.”
Los padres fundadores de esta gran nación, Cristianos practicantes, sabían perfectamente la necesidad imperante de proteger a la iglesia, y más que nada, conocían perfectamente la influencia de la iglesia en el pueblo y confiaban que sería la iglesia el lugar a donde se iría en busca de información y de verdad; y que sería en la iglesia precisamente en donde la gran mayoría de los movimientos por la igualdad y la justicia comenzarían.

Comments like “How irresponsible of the president, what does he want us all to die?” “Those negligent pastors who want to open up their churches and expose their congregations, don’t they know that we are the church and the temple is only a building?” just to mention a few of what poured on social networks.”
Did you know that on April 23 the White House published a table with the life expectancy of the COVID-19 virus? This was titled:
“High temperatures, humidity, and sunlight are detrimental to SARS-CoV-2 in saliva droplets on surfaces and in the air”
According to this table, the half-life of the virus on surfaces with a temperature of 70 to 75 degrees Farenheit, with 80% humidity and sun, is 2 minutes.

On surfaces with 95F and 80% sunless humidity, the half-life of the virus is 1 hour.
Next to that table was another one entitled: “Best Practices for Every American,” and this one had only three points:
HEAT AND HUMIDITY SUPRESS COVID-19: Inside and outside
MOVE YOUR ACTIVITIES OUT: Sunlight prevents transmission of the virus.
COMMONLY AVAILABLE DISINFECTANTS (Bleach & Isopropyl Alcohol) work to kill the virus.
If these guidelines were given more than a month ago, why do we continue to argue with each other rather than reason that there should be a stronger reason to keep us at home and not allow the church to gather?
The church (as an institution) has always been essential. Why is it important that we get to get back in here? Because it is in unity and bodily prayer that you strengthen each other. It is in our core of moral and spiritual support that we turn when life becomes difficult for us. It is no surprise to hear that suicide numbers have increased, on the contrary, it was to be expected. Where do the widow, the poor, the sad, and the depressed go, looking for strength if not his congregation? and when this is not available is when we see just that people take their own lives, take old vices, or harmful behaviors..
Just read the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence to understand the essentiality of the church. The Constitution exists to protect our rights “given by God,” and among them goes our religious freedom. The Constitution did not stipulate that the government-imposed laws to subjugate the church, but to precisely protect the church and the people from falling into a tyrannical government.

The Declaration of Independence, written by Thomas Jefferson in 1776, reads:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to affect their Safety and Happiness.”

The U.S. Constitution in its First Amendment says:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”
The founding fathers of this great nation, practicing Christians, knew perfectly well the prevailing need to protect the church, and more than anything, they knew perfectly well the influence of the church on the people and trusted that the church would be the place where it would go in search of information and truth; and that it would be in the church precisely where the vast majority of movements for equality and justice would begin.
