Kraft Nabisco Championship announces 2009 Broadcast Schedule

First LPGA Major of the Year to Air on ESPN2 and CBS Sports

The Kraft Nabisco Championship, one of the premier sporting events in the world, has announced its television broadcast schedule for this year’s event. The first LPGA major tournament of the year is set for Thursday, April 2, through Sunday, April 5, at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

According to Gabe Codding, business manager for the Kraft Nabisco Championship, all four rounds will be aired live on national television. The first three rounds of the LPGA tournament will air on ESPN2 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 2 – 4, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. (EST). Sunday’s final round will air for three hours on CBS Sports from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. (EST).

Codding also announced the broadcast lineup for the four days of coverage. The ESPN2 Thursday through Saturday broadcast team will be led by Terry Gannon and will include Andy North, Judy Rankin, Jane Crafter, Bill Kratzert and Tom Rinaldi. Verne Lundquist will head the broadcast team on Sunday for the CBS Sports broadcast. Additional talent announcements will be made at a later date.

“ESPN2 and CBS Sports have been terrific broadcast partners for the Kraft Nabisco Championship and we are very pleased with our time slots this year,” Codding said. “The Kraft Nabisco should also benefit from CBS Sports’ promotion and coverage of the NCAA Final Four basketball semi-finals on Saturday afternoon and the finals on Monday. Moreover, this is the second year we’ve had a three-hour broadcast on Sunday, which should ensure live coverage of the champion’s leap into the lake at 18.”

This year’s Kraft Nabisco Championship will feature an elite field of more than 100 of the best players in women’s professional and amateur golf – including defending champion and Rolex Player of the Year Lorena Ochoa, 2007 champion Morgan Pressel, Paula Creamer, Natalie Gulbis, Yani Tseng and Angela Stanford. Michelle Wie is also expected to make the field via the Kraft Nabisco Championship’s eligibility category as one of the Top 30 players on the 2009 LPGA Official Money List due to her second-place finish at the SBS Open at Turtle Bay tournament in February.
