Estados Unidos está retomando su camino sobre inmigrantes, al volver a superar el millón de personas beneficiadas con una Green Card y otras visas, luego de retrasos significativos causados principalmente por la pandemia de COVID-19

Después de un retroceso, Estados Unidos regresó en 2022 a los promedios de aceptación de inmigrantes legales, al superar el millón de personas beneficiadas.
Eso significa un retorno a la cifras previas a la pandemia de COVID-19, según estimaciones del Instituto de Política Migratoria (MPI).
El número oficial de extranjeros que recibieron una visa de inmigrante no ha sido revelado por el Gobierno del presidente Joe Biden, el MPI estima que la cifra alcanzó 1.1 millones para el año fiscal 2022.
La cifra representa “un cambio marcado” desde el mínimo de 707,000 extranjeros a los que se les otorgó una residencia permanente en el año fiscal 2020, la menor cantidad desde el año fiscal 2003, explicó el MPI en el informe.
La mitad de los nuevos residentes permanentes aceptados en EE.UU. en 2022 (casi 518,000 visas) tramitaron sus peticiones en los consulados estadounidenses.
La cifra representa más de 55,000 visas de inmigrante más que las otorgadas por el Departamento de Estado de EE.UU en el año fiscal 2019.
Aunque el Servicio de Ciudadanía e Inmigración de El Servicio de Ciudadanía e Inmigración (USCIS) aún no ha publicado los datos sobre su emisión de tarjetas de residencia en el año fiscal 2022, pero las cifras de la primera mitad del año sugieren que también podrían estar cerca de 500,000.

No obstante, el MPI cataloga el desplome de 2020 y 2021 como “grave”. Estados Unidos otorgó unas 750,000 residencias permanentes menos que lo normal durante los últimos dos años y aceptó menos trabajadores temporales y estudiantes.

That means a return to the figures prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to estimates by the Migration Policy Institute (MPI).
The official number of foreigners who received an immigrant visa has not been revealed by the Government of President Joe Biden, the MPI estimates that the number reached 1.1 million by fiscal year 2022.
The number represents “a marked change” from the low of 707,000 aliens granted permanent residency in fiscal year 2020, the fewest since fiscal year 2003, the MPI explained in the report.
Half of the new permanent residents accepted into the US in 2022 (almost 518,000 visas) processed their petitions at US consulates.
The number represents more than 55,000 more immigrant visas than those granted by the US Department of State in fiscal year 2019.
Although the Citizenship and Immigration Services of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has not yet released the data on its issuance of green cards in fiscal year 2022, but the figures for the first half of the year suggest that they could also be about 500,000.
Therefore, it is anticipated that at least one million immigrants will obtain permanent residence in the US in fiscal year 2022, the report indicated.
The analysis adds that the rebound suggests that neither the policies of the Donald Trump Administration (2017-2021) nor the pandemic have had lasting effects on the level of legal immigration to the United States.

However, the MPI classifies the collapse of 2020 and 2021 as “serious”. The United States granted about 750,000 fewer permanent residences than normal over the past two years and accepted fewer temporary workers and students.
