Elmer’s Restaurant Joins Ranks Of Founding Members Of The Hispanic Chamber Of Commerce, Coachella Valley

Elmer’s Restaurant at the corner of Hwy. 111 and Clinton St., in Indio became a founding member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Coachella Valley. For many years it has been the unofficial meeting place for dozens of organizations and has spent thousands of dollars supporting community projects. Elmer’s has always demonstrated a community spirit which was a prime reason they were awarded the coveted “Sol Azteca” as “Business of the Year,” this past February in black-tie ceremonies in Indian Wells at the 9th Annual International Hispanic Awards.

In becoming a member, Kelly Sloan owner/operator of Elmer’s Restaurant commented he had received more publicity within the past three months from Hispanic Chamber organizers than previously received from other chambers in the past twenty years.

It is the intent of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Coachella Valley to keep the focus on all its members on a regular basis. Al Vasquez, CEO of Hispanic Image Marketing Network, the research arm of HCC stated, “our research has shown, businesses join a chamber of commerce to obtain good publicity, to receive benefits, to expand their base of operation, it is unfortunate many businesses surveyed report they feel the business, the benefits and the publicity are mainly derived for the chamber. The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Coachella Valley is investing the majority of income towards advertising for its members.”

The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will have a founding members celebration on Friday, May 20th at 45102 Smurr St., Indio, and the first FREE business workshop on Saturday, May 21st. Attending the celebration will be representatives from the Argentina-California Chamber of Commerce, the Nicaragua-California Chamber of Commerce, representatives from the Mexicalli Chamber of Commerce and many dignitaries. There will be music and food starting at 5:00 P.M.

Founding memberships are available for those joining through April 30th. Call 760-342-2565 for information. Photo: Margie Montez, HCC Business Outreach Director with Kelly Sloan, Owner/Operator of Elmer’s Restaurant.
