Downtown Indio Starting it’s Resurection
Los Necios musical group was seen at the Indio Date Festival Parade through downtown Indio, which brought them first prize for their animated song and dance float. The lead cart is followed by the entire group which held court throughout the parade route. Los Necios also entertained at the festival grounds where they drew large crowds and many buyers of their CD.
Later that evening a birthday celebration was held for Roberto Hernandez the accordionist of the group. Friends and well wishers were present to wish him many more years and a fantastic musical career.
The Heart of Indio float was entered by the Downtown Indio Merchants Association for the first time. Down Town Indio is quickly gaining the reputation of a rising Phoenix. Storefronts are beginning to change daily. Road construction is about 90% complete and the Old Towne Cafe and Bakery is open for business with great coffee, extensive menu and friendly open ambiance. A large list of merchants have been attending their monthly meetings. There are approximately 40 businesses in the association area of downtown Indio.
The association has been getting a tremendous amount of impetus from PJ’S Trophies & Gifts, Valley V-Twin Motorcycles, Presicion Auto Sound, Together Forever Bridal, Old Towne Cafe and Bakery, Johnson Photo, Whites Steel, El Sol Furniture, Leather Plus, Wagner Jewelry, La Prensa Hispana Newspaper and many others. Their next meeting is scheduled for March 12th at the Old Town Cafe, 5:30 PM.
