BONO MACK ANNOUNCES GRANT TO HELP PREVENT HOMELESSNESS
WASHINGTON, D.C.
Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45) today announced a Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grant for Riverside County that will provide financial and other assistance to help keep individuals and families from becoming homeless. This $4,276,900 grant was awarded as a part of the 2009 Recovery Act Homeless Prevention program. Bono Mack issued the following statement:
“This funding will provide much-needed assistance to local residents who are at risk of losing their homes or experiencing homelessness,” said Bono Mack. “In today’s economic and housing crisis, far too many families are having to spend their nights on the streets, with nowhere else to go. By offering financial and other assistance including short to medium-term rental help to housing stabilization services, this grant will provide immediate help to people and families in need.
“I am pleased that our community will benefit from this funding, and I will continue to work on all levels to help ensure that people have a place that they can call home.”
