A Luncheon-Conference for Bereaved Mothers was Celebrated in Indio

INDIO, CA – On May 4th, Umbrella Ministries celebrated their first luncheon-conference for Hispanic mothers. The mission of this ministry, is to bring comfort to bereaved mothers who have suffered the loss of a child whether inside or outside of the womb.
Umbrella Ministries is a non-denominational ministry, with the sole purpose of providing comfort, hope, and encouragement to mothers who have suffered the loss of a child. UM offers them support by providing them:
A safe space to go through the grieving process and encourage them to share their feelings and to trust in God’s comfort, peace, and hope.
An opportunity to talk about their children in support groups, so they can turn their los into a ministry for others; they also offer yearly retreats, as well as workshops charged with faith and hope.
The event, which was sponsored by The Berger Foundation, had an attendance of around 60 people, from which 13 of them had never been in any event or group lead by UM. Guest Speakers Sherrill Schoof and Blanca Acosta, spoke about their experiences when their children passed, their grief process, and the moment they found peace and contentment.
Having been a community event, Professor Maria Avalos from College of the Desert, attended with a group of students who voluntarily offered their time to serve the moms gathered there.
Umbrella Ministries is starting their Hispanic chapter, and son, they will be having a mini-retreat for Hispanic mothers who have lost children; they expect to count with some more donations, so they can offer it at no cost for these moms. INDIO, CA – El sábado 4 de mayo, Umbrella Ministries celebro su primer almuerzo-conferencia para mamas Hispanas. La misión de este ministerio es traer consuelo a las madres afligidas que han sufrido la pérdida de un hijo, tanto dentro como fuera del vientre.
Umbrella Ministries es un ministerio adenominacional, con la absoluta misión de ofrecer Consuelo, esperanza, y animo a madres que hayan sufrido la pérdida de un hijo. UM ofrece apoyo proporcionándoles:
Un espacio Seguro para atravesar su proceso de duelo y animarlas a compartir sus sentimientos y a confiar en el consuelo, paz, y esperanza que Dios da.
Una oportunidad para hablar sobre sus hijos en grupos de apoyo para convertir su pérdida en ministerio para otros; así como retiros anuales y talleres llenos de fe y esperanza.
El evento, el cual fue patrocinado por la Berger Foundation, conto con una asistencia de aproximadamente 60 personas, de las cuales por lo menos 13 madres nunca habían estado en algún evento o grupo dirigido por UM. Las expositoras, Sherrill Schoof y Blanca Acosta, hablaron sobre sus experiencias cuando sus hijos fallecieron, el proceso de duelo que atravesaron, así como el momento en que encontraron paz y contentamiento.
Siendo este un evento comunitario, la Profesora María Avalos, del Colegio del Desierto, asistió con un grupo de estudiantes, quienes voluntariamente ofrecieron de su tiempo para servir a las madres ahí presentes.
Umbrella Ministries está iniciando su capítulo en español, y próximamente estarán trayendo un mini-retiro para las madres Hispanas que han perdido hijos, y ellas esperan contar con algunas donaciones más, para así poder ofrecerlo sin costo.
